[Pokemon|OC] Cedar — Description

This is my Pokemon Adventures OC. He also works in the games. Specifically Galar region, but he can be placed in other regions.

He's from Galar, though he travels the world. Shown above is his outfit and team for Galar. His outfit remains the same for Fiore and Alola, but his team changes. I'm planning on making a page on Toyhou.se showcasing his team and appearance changes throughout the regions.

In regards to timeline, his travels through Galar take place 7 years before the Diamond and Pearl Adventures manga. Note that he also visits regions not in the mainline games and are mentioned by proxy but do not appear in the manga, like Fiore. He doesn't catch any Pokemon in these other regions, and doesn't stay for very long. He makes trips back to Galar in between adventures to check on Pokemon he leaves in Galar, say hi to dad, and drop off stuff he doesn't need.

In the games, his story exists in the Mega Evolution timeline, still 7 years before Sinnoh's events.

In Roleplays, he's just left Galar, making him 11 during RPs. He only takes Dewey and a Manaphy with him.

Name: Cedar (Japanese: セーダル Sēdaru)
Age: 10 (Galar, Fiore & Alola), 11 (Unova), 12 (Almia and a yet-to-be-decided region), +1 year for every region following. I don't know where he'll go next, but as stated, he does explore the smaller regions of the spin-off games.

Likes: Sweet food, sour candies, hot food, hatching Pokemon Eggs, quiet places.
Dislikes: People trying to take his Eggs, loud noises.
Hates: Large crowds, bullies, the Sneasel line.

Personality:

Cedar's an incredibly timid and shy kid, and doesn't really care much for personal appearance, if his tattered clothing says anything. He's pretty happy among other Pokemon. For a kid from Spikemuth, he's polite, soft-spoken, and doesn't like to cause trouble. He tends to have trouble standing up for himself, and generally suffers from a lack of confidence, leading to him having trouble wanting to do much of anything he's not familiar with. He also doesn't like to battle very much because he doesn't like seeing his Pokemon get hurt, but he will if he has to. He's great at planning things out, and understanding when to get the heck out of dodge, but he tends to start second-guessing himself in critical moments. He's also incredibly clumsy, more often than not tripping over nothing and falling on his face. Surprisingly, he's good at kick-based activities. He also likes a lot of different genres of music, particularly metal, punk, and hip-hop.

He has an uncanny ability to randomly find Pokemon Eggs. He loves making sure they hatch, and then finding an adult Pokemon willing to adopt the hatchling. The giant, patched-up backpack he wears will always contain at least one Egg.

Background:

Cedar was born in Spikemuth. His father worked an office job 17 hours a day, so he hardly ever sees his dad. His mother died a few weeks after he was born, so he never really had a stable parental figure. Trying to find something stable to do, he decided to start exploring the area around Spikemuth and Hammerlocke. When he was five, he got lost and wound up in the Wild Area, and after several... close encounters with strong Pokemon, he would up at the Wild Area's Day Care. He started volunteering his time helping out around the Day Care, and found himself loving working there. Trainers would always come by and take the eggs their Pokemon left. But then one of them didn't. Cedar nervously asked if he could hold on to it. The owners of the Day Care said yes. He raised that Egg amazingly well, and it eventually hatched into a Sobble. He became so enraptured with the mystery of how Eggs work that he decided that he would become a Pokemon Professor when he grows up, researching how different habitats and other circumstances affect how Eggs hatch, taking Manaphy Eggs and Phione as an example. Of course, he would need to get strong enough to safely get to some of these habitats, so he decided to start getting himself and Dewey stronger first. But he decided to wait. He had plenty of time. And of course, he was mocked for this goal, and his confidence took a nosedive because of this. The only thing that really kept him from giving up was his Sobble.
When he turned 10, he decided to register for the Gym Challenge after getting a letter of endorsement from Piers. He had an oddly hard time catching Pokemon the traditional way, but he managed to build up a team through hatching Eggs and sheer dumb luck. He managed to beat all of the Gyms, but failed at the semi-finals. However, just getting that far (whereas most people lost to Kabu) raised his confidence just enough that he decided to try leaving Galar and exploring the world, starting with Alola and the Island Trial.

Battle strategy:
Cedar's strategy changes depending on which Pokemon is on the field, but focuses mainly on ending fights as quickly as possible. Rosetta places Toxic Spikes, and is also his anti-Dragon type. Remus and the Falinks squad land a good First Impression, then willingly endure hits to score a Reversal. Axel just brute-forces everything with powerful physical attacks. Everyone else sets up and attempts to end the fight in one hit. He prefers having type diversity, and some Pokemon have moves to cover their weaknesses. For example, Dewey also knows Icy Wind.
After his journies in Alola, Cedar gives Axel a Dragonium Z to give him even more power.
Even after he gets a Key Stone, not every team change has a Pokemon that can Mega Evolve.

Pokémon #1:
Name: Dewey
Species: Inteleon (Starts as Sobble)
Gender: Male
Shiny: No
Poke-ball: Poke Ball
Personality: Caring, but a bit introverted. He sees Cedar as a brother, and will do anything to protect him. Dewey has a bit of a smug attitude in battle, due to just how powerful his Snipe Shot is, and is a force to be reckoned with when he Gigantamaxes. The smugness is just a facade in an attempt to get the opponent to lose their cool; he's actually taking the fight very seriously. He loses his cool if you make fun of his name; Cedar was five when he named Dewey. Outside of battle, Dewey is calm and collected. He doesn't like to stay in his Poke Ball, and is often seen walking around next to Cedar. Of course, he still has a few insecuriteies from back when he was a Sobble, but he doesn't let them bother him anymore.
How did Cedar get him: When Cedar was five, he volunteered to help out at the Wild Zone Day Care. One day, he was allowed to hold on to an Egg that a Trainer didn't want. The egg eventually hatched into a Sobble.

Gigantamax: Yes, after a trip to the Isle of Armor.

Pokémon #2:
Name: Axel
Species: Haxorus (Starts as Axew)
Gender: Male
Shiny: No
Poke-Ball: Poke Ball
Personality: Axel just does not give a flip about anything. He ran out of flips to give a long time ago, and he's not planning on going shopping anytime soon. He just moves forwards like the Juggernaut, fulfilling the commands Cedar gives him as he sees fit. His solution to a problem is to apply force to it. If applying force doesn't work, apply more force. He also really likes breaking things. He still has emotions, he just doesn't like showing them. He can occasionallly be seen showing emotions, but only if he's alone. Axel tries his best to look stoic and intimidating among others, but he has a soft spot for Cedar. A small one. He doesn't always listen to Cedar, but is also highly protective of him. If he's not fighting, he can be seen sharpening his tusks in preparation for the next fight.
How did Cedar get him: It was a freak accident that Cedar would never be able to prove happened. Cedar threw the Poke Ball at a Roselia. He missed. The Poke Ball bounced off of a tree and down a small cliff. When he went to collect the Poke Ball, he finds that it had caught a sleeping Axew. Cedar decided to keep it.

Z-Move: After his adventures in Alola, Cedar keeps his Z-Ring. He uses it to perform Devastating Drake with Axel, because MORE POWER!!

Pokémon #3:
Name: Rosetta
Species: Roserade (starts as Roselia)
Gender: Female

Poke-ball: Poke ball
Shiny: No
Personality: Rosetta is very, very vain. It loves having attention, and will get upset if attention is taken away from it. She also has a habit of getting people's attention, then walking off with the people following her. Cedar has no idea if this is due to her leading people away from him, or her wanting to find more people to fawn over her. Be wary: she also has a short temper, although she manages to keep it under control for the most part.

How did Cedar get her: He went back up the cliff after finding out his first Poke Ball had caught an Axew. Then he caught the Roselia on his way back home.

Pokémon #4:
Name: Remus (leader), Washington, Napoleon, Carolina, York, Benicia (Cedar refers to them as the Kirby squad.)
Species: Falinks
Gender: Unknown.
Poke-Ball: Ultra Ball

Shiny: No.
Personality: They're a regimented team that's dedicated to basically being a bodyguard squad for Cedar. Each one has their own unique personality, but they all fall in line under Remus, and become soldiers under his and Cedar's commands. The leader of the squad, Remus, is the serious one with no sense of humor. Napoleon is a hothead that constantly challenges Remus's leadership (and fails). Washington tends to goof off. Carolina likes to sleep. York is shy like Cedar. Benicia is a bit of a ditz and tends to be the one that sparks arguments between the squad and Cedar's other Pokemon. Remus treats the other Pokemon on Cedar's team as civilians that it's charged with protecting, and will protect them with its life, as well as the rest of its squad. Cedar is treated as a commander for them.
How did Cedar get them: After finding a Pokemon Egg just outside of Motostoke (in actuality, he literally tripped over it and fell on his face again), Cedar decided to take it with him, among the other Eggs. It didn't hatch for a long time. On his way to Circhester, he ran into the Falinks squad being harrassed by some Mandibuzz. A quick Icy Wind from Dewey managed to scare them off, and he was on his way. That night, he was attacked by a large gang of Sneasels and Weaviles that were after the Pokemon Eggs Cedar was carrying at the time. His team was ill-suited for fighting Ice-types and Dark-types, and they were still injured from battling earlier, so he ran, but was cornered. They almost got his precious Pokemon Eggs when the Falinks squad from before stepped in and managed to fend off the attacking Sneasels and Weaviles. The squad continued following Cedar, so he eventually just caught them so they can stay with him, which is what they wanted.

Pokémon #5:
Name: Pyropede
Species: Centiskorch (originally a Sizzlipede.)
Gender: Female
Poke-ball: Poke Ball

Shiny: Yes.
Personality: Perpetually curious, and still learning social norms, Pyropede is still mentally young, and likes to play. She also doesn't have the best control over her abilities still, and tends to overdo it with her flames, making her get easily exhausted. She also gets scared easily by virtue of being the youngest member of Cedar's team, and is still technically a child. She still has fear issues when she evolves, but she manages to keep her fears under control for the most part. Despite generally being the weakest part of the team, Pyropede is more than capable of fighting.

How did Cedar get her: She hatched from the aforementioned Pokemon Egg that Cedar found outside of Motostoke during the Gym Challenge. Unlike most Pokemon that hatched from Eggs (who he gave to Trainers, kids looking for an untraditional starter, or released into the wild with a Pokemon of the same species), he decided to keep and train the Sizzlipede.
Gigantamax: No, sadly.

Pokémon #6:
Name: Steelbeak
Species: Corviknight (originally a Rookidee)
Gender: Male
Poke-ball: Great Ball
Personality: Clumsy, and surprisingly unobservant for a Corviknight. He would never make it as a Flying Taxi Corviknight, although he's still capable of getting Cedar to where he needs to go. Steelbeak is also pretty jovial, and is the most social Pokemon on Cedar's team outside of Pyropede, although he knows how to reign in his "conversations" with other Pokemon. In battle, it tends to act like an idiot to get opponents to drop their guard, and sometime fakes confusion. For unknown reasons, it seems to really dislike Skarmory.
How did Cedar get him: To be decided, but it's a legitimate catch with no luck or accidents attached.
Gigantamax: No.
